A gripping moment shook Ghana’s Parliament on Friday when Colonel Isaac Amponsah, Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Nana Akufo-Addo, collapsed during the President’s final State of the Nation address.
The unexpected incident unfolded just as the President began recounting his administration’s achievements over the past eight years. A viral video captured Amponsah standing stoically behind the President before suddenly losing consciousness, sparking immediate concern among lawmakers.
Parliament’s medical team swiftly intervened, providing first aid before transporting Amponsah to a nearby facility for further evaluation. President Akufo-Addo, visibly shaken, paused his speech momentarily to ensure his trusted aide received urgent care.
In a quick transition, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s ADC stepped in to maintain protocol. As of now, the cause of Amponsah’s collapse remains undisclosed.
