Koleoso’s 13-part YouTube run reached a reported 141.6 million views, showing how Yoruba fantasy built a loyal Community of returning viewers.
Koleoso has reached a YouTube milestone that matters beyond one headline number. On September 8, 2026, filmmaker and actor Ibrahim Yekini announced that the Yoruba-language fantasy production had accumulated 141.6 million combined views across 13 instalments. More significantly for Nollywood, millions of viewers continued watching as the story expanded.
Thirteen instalments delivered consistent audiences
Yekini’s published breakdown placed every part between 8.7 million and 16 million views. Part 1 recorded 9.8 million, while Parts 6, 7 and 8 each reached 12 million. Part 9 climbed to 13 million before Part 10 delivered the series high of 16 million.
Even the lowest total, Part 13’s 8.7 million, remained substantial. Part 5 also reportedly crossed one million views within eight hours, accompanied by more than 32,000 likes and 6,700 comments.
That distribution is the clearest audience signal. Rather than relying on one viral upload to carry the title, Koleoso maintained multimillion-view traffic throughout its serialized run. The figures are cumulative public views, however, and should not be interpreted as 141.6 million unique viewers.
Koleoso turned continuing storytelling into a Community
Yekini has described viewers debating events, developing theories and repeatedly returning to the series. Earlier search data also placed Koleoso and two of its individual instalments among Nigeria’s leading series searches for 2025, suggesting that interest extended beyond passive viewing.
The production’s structure gave audiences several reasons to stay engaged: recurring characters, Yoruba supernatural themes and an unfolding narrative released across multiple uploads. Yekini directed and produced the series while playing its title character, with Akinfolarin Olamide credited as writer.
Recurring performers include Oluwakemi Apesin, Saliu Gbolagade and Olamide, alongside Yekini. Fatai Odua and Yetunde Barnabas are among the wider recurring cast, helping the production sustain a recognisable screen world across its instalments.
What the milestone means for Nollywood on YouTube
News reports repeated Yekini’s description of Koleoso as YouTube’s most-watched African film title, but the claim has not been presented as an independently audited platform record. Comparisons with older milestones also require caution because YouTube changed its public-view counting methodology globally on August 24, 2026.
The stronger lesson is already visible in the instalment totals. For Nollywood producers, Koleoso demonstrates how serialized YouTube releases can encourage conversation, search activity and continued audience interest around an indigenous-language story. Its achievement is not simply one enormous figure; it is the consistency of the viewers who kept coming back.
