How The Merger’s 7.4 Million Views Show the Power of Uche Montana TV’s YouTube Community

How The Merger’s 7.4 Million Views Show the Power of Uche Montana TV’s YouTube Community

The Merger’s 7.4 million views and two-week FilmFlux Top 10 run show how Uche Montana TV’s Community can sustain Nollywood momentum on YouTube after launch.

A big opening can make a Nollywood YouTube release look successful, but sustained attention reveals more about its audience strength. Uche Montana TV’s The Merger delivered both: a rapid debut followed by a second consecutive appearance in FilmFlux’s weekly Top 10.

Released on September 5, 2026, the film had accumulated approximately 7.4 million views by September 14. Its progression from No. 1 in its first chart week to No. 6 in the next offers a useful picture of how an established creator-led Community can keep a movie moving beyond launch weekend.

A No. 1 debut followed by meaningful audience retention

FilmFlux ranked The Merger at No. 1 for the August 31–September 6 chart week. The movie then remained in the Top 10 for September 7–13, taking the No. 6 position and securing a two-week chart run.

That second appearance matters because YouTube attention can fade quickly after subscribers and core fans respond to a new upload. According to FilmFlux’s September 14 snapshot, about 4.5 million of the movie’s roughly 7.4 million views had arrived during the preceding seven days. The figures indicate that viewing activity remained substantial after the initial release surge.

TrendYT provided another audience signal around the same period, displaying approximately 7.3 million views and 78,700 likes. It also placed the film at No. 2 among Nigeria’s trending entertainment videos. The slight difference between the 7.3 million and 7.4 million totals reflects dynamic snapshots taken at different times.

Why Community matters for Nollywood YouTube releases

The performance does not prove that every viewer returned or that all growth came directly from existing subscribers. It does, however, suggest that The Merger continued circulating through YouTube discovery, audience engagement and sharing after its early viewers had arrived.

For Nollywood producers, that distinction is important. A dependable channel Community can provide the first wave of attention, while sustained visibility gives a movie more opportunities to reach casual viewers and audiences across the African entertainment diaspora.

Star power supported by a creator-led release

The approximately one-hour-and-34-minute film stars Uche Montana, Timini Egbuson, Vich Vitalis, Valentine Okorocha and Joseph Oni. Best Okoduwa directed from a screenplay by Stephen Okonkwo, while Montana served as executive producer.

Its cast gives viewers recognisable entry points, but the chart pattern is the more revealing audience trend. The Merger did not simply generate a large opening count; it remained competitive through a second measured week. For Nollywood’s YouTube economy, that kind of follow-through shows why building a Community around a channel can be as valuable as promoting any single release.
