Jessica Chastain sings and investigates a disappearance in Netflix’s Heartland, a Nashville mystery thriller streaming November 13, 2026, with Jennifer Nettles.
Jessica Chastain is trading the concert stage for a missing-person investigation in Heartland, Netflix’s forthcoming mystery thriller set inside Nashville’s country music world. The official trailer, released on October 6, 2026, introduces a performance built around music, family responsibility and a former star’s difficult return to the industry she left behind.
Chastain plays Misty Jones, a reclusive former country megastar who returns to Nashville after 20 years when her niece, rising musician Charlie Heart, disappears. Netflix will begin streaming the 1-hour-51-minute film on November 13, 2026.
Jessica Chastain leads with music and mystery
The trailer’s central attraction is the contrast within Misty’s journey. She is returning not simply as a worried relative, but as a complicated woman confronting an old world while attempting to regain control of her story.
That gives Chastain room to move between the emotional demands of a family mystery, the volatility of a retired celebrity and the physical urgency of an amateur investigation. Her transformation supplies the strongest hook for this Actor Spotlight, particularly because the role also requires her to perform as a singer.
Chastain performed her own vocals for the film and appears alongside three-time Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles on the title song. The combination of original music and thriller storytelling makes Heartland more than a conventional backstage drama.
A return to country music for Shana Feste
Heartland is written and directed by Shana Feste, the filmmaker behind Country Strong. Her latest project again enters the country music industry, this time using that environment as the backdrop for a disappearance and an investigation.
The verified ensemble includes Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch, Jennifer Nettles, John Hawkes, Paul Sparks, Hill Harper, Norbert Leo Butz and Wynn Everett.
Why Heartland could interest African screen audiences
For Nollywood Spotlight readers, Misty’s story carries themes that travel easily across industries: female agency, complicated family obligations and the challenge of navigating an entertainment business shaped by competing interests. The film also demonstrates how a recognisable music culture can provide both atmosphere and dramatic stakes for a genre story.
For actors and filmmakers, Chastain’s performance offers another example of a screen role expanding through music, action and emotional contradiction. Whether Heartland fully delivers on that promise will become clearer when the film reaches Netflix on November 13.
