In a significant announcement, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will facilitate the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Speaking at the 13th memorial of her late husband, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, in Owerri, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs emphasized that Kanu’s release is pivotal to addressing the Southeast’s security challenges.
According to Ambassador Ojukwu, President Tinubu recognizes that releasing Kanu will unveil criminal elements exploiting IPOB’s name to perpetrate violence in the region.
“This step is essential to exposing the masqueraders behind the chaos and restoring order,”
she remarked, pledging to work tirelessly to ensure the President’s action on this matter.
Ojukwu also criticized the violent “sit-at-home” orders that have crippled economic activities in the Southeast, arguing that they undermine the principles of self-determination. She urged the Igbo people to unite in reclaiming their region from criminality while upholding their legacy of entrepreneurship and unity.
As the Southeast grapples with unrest, Kanu’s potential release could be a turning point, distinguishing genuine freedom fighters from opportunists. The call for peace and progress resonates deeply with the ideals of the late Dim Ojukwu, a symbol of Igbo pride and resilience.
