Breaking: Nigeria Welcomes Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Hours ago, President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, warmly received Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock. This historic visit marks the first time in 17 years that an Indian Prime Minister has set foot in Nigeria, signifying a crucial step in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two populous nations.
Minister Ojukwu took to social media, sharing a press release highlighting the significance of this meeting. She noted, "As President Tinubu hosts H.E. Shri Narendra Modi, the most followed world leader on social media, Nigeria aims to bolster ties with India, our largest trading partner in Africa."
The partnership between Nigeria and India is robust, with over 200 Indian companies investing a staggering $27 billion in Nigeria. India also plays a vital role in Nigeria’s oil sector, purchasing crude worth over $10 billion annually.
With India spearheading the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 earlier this year, this visit is a testament to the growing bond between both nations. The meeting aims to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, setting the stage for a new era of collaboration and economic growth.
